BIMCO and FONASBA, the global organization representing ship brokers and agents, have once again partnered to create and launch a new general agency contract for port agents, shipowners and ship operators who use port agency services. Aaa and GAA are now expected to replace agency contracts for everyday use, but they will remain available for the foreseeable future as they have a specific need. The essential form of the agreement includes all the main conditions of an agency contract, but it will be complemented in the future by a number of commercial clauses that will continue to adapt the agreement to the specific needs of the sector. FONASBA Standard Liner Agency Agreement (revised and adopted July 1993) – Liner Agency Agreement between Liner Principal and Agent, recommended by the International Maritime Council (BIMCO). FONASBA BIMCO Agency Appointment Agreement (AAA) Launched in January 2017, the FONASBA BIMCO Agency Appointment Agreement is a new document to formalize the appointment of a shipping agent for a single point of departure or a relatively short series of calls at a limited number of ports. The form is suitable for use in all trades, including bulk, dry and liquid transport, liner, project and short sea shipping. The contract form can be downloaded by clicking on the link above.
